road 2 recovery

We didn't get in to see him today, but i just spoke with Kyren's nurse. She said he is a feisty little guy, and even on pain medicine, he is often awake and moving around. They put him back on his belly, which she said seems to be his favorite position, and he's now calmer and snuggled in for the night. As much as i don't like to picture him struggling for comfort, the word 'feisty' was rather encouraging. It sort of implies that he's got some strength and some fight in him. I've heard that caucasian male preemies are often referred to as 'wimpy white boys', because of all the babies in the NICU, they are often the weakest and least likely to thrive. Let's pray he defies those odds!
She said his blood pressure has been at a pretty good level since last night, but his blood oxygen has been up and down. He had a blood transfusion last night, and another one this evening. He still hasn't been fed anything since before the surgery, but hopefully tomorrow he can start back on the breastmilk. Speaking of which, for those of you who have prayed for me regarding that whole arena, things are finally going very well, and I am adjusting to my new life as a cow. As long as I am able to nap during Christian's naptime, getting up during the night is not as bad as it was at first.
Thank you for continuing to pray for the healing of the lungs, the transition back to feedings, and the blood and oxygen levels to stabilize. We also pray for our feisty little guy to get some rest tonight-- and save his energy for all the growing he's about to do!
