i got to hold him again last night-- it is hard to believe that my baby is 4 weeks old, and i have only held him twice. it still is difficult to let it truly sink in that he's ours. but we are grateful for another really good week of relative healthiness! for him and for us-- as we hear more and more reports of swine flu and other illnesses hitting our area.
we left Bubby home with Gramsy and Poppy today, again, so we could sleep in a little and go to church without distraction. then we bought some pumpkins and took them over there to carve... thinking Christian would love scooping the goopiness out of the centers. on the contrary, he cried when he touched it, and after being coaxed to scoop out a few spoonfuls of the stuff, quickly went back to playing with his truck. every time he'd reappear, he'd look at the pumpkins and say, "goopy!" -- like, "why are you people still touching that stuff?". i guess it is an odd thing to do from the perspective of a 17 month old.
we ended up getting 4 pumpkins. the large one for daddy, the medium one for mommy, the small one for Christian, and the little tiny baby one for Kyren... or as Christian calls him, "Kooey". it made it just a little more real (but only a little) that we are actually a family of 4.

Yay, you got to hold Kyren again. I'm sure it does him a world of good to be up close to his momma. I'm sure it does you a world of good as well. Can't wait to hear how much weight he's gained. Every little bit helps!
Christian is a cutie! Our friends' little boy had a very similar reaction to his 1 yr birthday cake. They tried to get him to put his hands in it and he started crying. He wanted nothing to do with the mess. I'm glad Christian can keep you entertained. I bet he brings a small sense of normalcy to your not so normal days. :o)
I am so glad that in the middle of all the crazyness you went out to get some pumpkins and set out to carve them. I am happy that you are able to (at least somewhat) enjoy this time of year. Christian sounds like a real cutie and I am glad he is making you laugh. How sweet that he says Kyren's name!
