after the torrential rains last week, we started to notice the ceiling and walls of our bathroom were extra 'wet' looking. dave immediately went to the attic to check things out and discovered once again a little hole in the roof where he could see the sky. so now we have a couple days' worth of torrential rains collected in our attic floor and bathroom ceiling. greaaaaaat. the roofer came the next day and the insurance adjuster came a few days later. we have a big deductible, but may end up using some of the money to put toward a whole new bathroom, which we've been wanting/needing anyway. that would be a nice twist of fate!
Christian had his first successful/happy sunday school class, followed by 2 days of excellent preschool experiences. Kyren cut his first tooth without us even knowing it. his only symptom? he slept a lot. hopefully the rest will sneak in as surreptitiously. he has been such a delightful little crawler and cruiser this month. his little personality is so sweet and he is generally so happy and easy to make smile. he will follow us down the hallway, crawling with his little bottom swinging back and forth. and when he comes around the corner and we make eye contact, he gets a HUGE smile on his face and giggles. so precious!!
tuesday night dave and i went to a married couples meeting called 'Spousekeeping'. i really am so grateful for the priority our church puts on marriage, and investing in us as couples. i feel so privileged to be receiving such quality teaching at the beginning of our marriage, rather than after years of mistakes and potential damage. we really are learning how to love each other better, prefer one another, and lay a foundation for our lifetime together.
wednesday night was Open House at C's school, where he got to show us his classroom, introduce us to his teachers and his new friends. it was almost a no-go due to a certain someone waking up from his nap with a barky cough. but he really was no worse off than a bunch of his classmates who appeared to have caught the same germs. ahhh, it begins.
thursday we went to a very fun playground with friend liam and his mommy, and then followed them to Trader Joe's, where liam and Christian had mini-shopping cart races around the store. it was super fun! Jen and i talked about meal planning and she inspired me with how organized she is. i know this may sound incredibly boring to anyone who might happen to be reading this, but to me it was extremely helpful. i've been struggling with my propensity toward procrastination and disorganization. but i really do desire to be more productive and organized. looking forward to getting a little moreso in the coming weeks.
by thursday night, i had caught the cold, and by this morning so had kyren. poor dave is doomed.
currently we are all snuggling in our bed as i type and Christian begs to watch monster trucks on Youtube.
craving comfort food after making a crockpot full of chilli the other day. perhaps today will be a potato soup of the creamy variety. as soon as i get that dose of energy i need to get out of this snuggly place...
